Shiloh Baptist Church (Old Site) celebrated the 60th anniversary of its energetic, Christ-honoring Home Missions Ministry on Sunday morning, May 21, 2023.
Honorees included all current members of the Home Missions Ministry, as well as Pastor Emeritus Lawrence Davies (founder of the Home Missions Ministry) and Mrs. Janice P. Davies (long-time leader of the ministry). Both Rev. and Mrs. Davies shared remarks during the service. The background of their involvement with the Home Missions ministry was shared by their daughter, Mrs. Sharron Jeffrey.
Associate minister Rev. Curtis Edmonds brought the message of the morning. Instrumental musicians that morning were Mrs. Phyllis Nelson on keyboard and Deacon Shelton Johnson on saxophone. A team of talented singers and soloists offered a number of moving selections.
Other participants on the program, all long-time members of the Home Missions Ministry, included Ms. Pamela Johnson, Ms. Gwendolyn Stewart, Mrs. Tinka Harris, Ms. Wilma Conyers, Deacon Delores Lacy, Deacon Mary Malone, Mrs. Marva Moore, and Mr. Maynard Clipper.
Flowers were presented to Deacon Robbin Edwards, who currently leads the Home Missions Ministry. Guests from several other local community service groups were also recognized. A light lunch and time of fellowship was provided after the service.
