Shiloh Baptist Church (Old Site) strives to be a caring congregation, a gathering of Christ’s followers, serving others in ways that are liberating and empowering.
We believe that there are no exclusions in God’s family. All are welcome, regardless of identity.
We trace our history to 1854, at which point we became an independent congregation, serving as a haven of hope for all who had been enslaved, ensnared, or beaten down. In the years since then, we have continued to lift up God’s justice and love, shining Christ’s light in a troubled world.
We are one of the founding congregations of Fredericksburg’s remarkably successful Micah Ecumenical Ministries, for which we provide ongoing financial support. In coordination with Micah, we also provide a free, hot breakfast each Wednesday morning (between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m.) to anyone in the community who longs for a nourishing meal.
Our Home Missions ministry provides personal support and encouragement, food, and other kinds of financial assistance to many individuals every month. Volunteers from our Home Missions ministry meet with those in need at the church building on the second and fourth Friday morning of each month.
We long hosted a variety of vibrant scouting troops, including Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and BSA Scouts.
A group of our members regularly visits one of Virginia’s largest prisons, ministering in Christ’s name to those who are incarcerated.
We also a long-time financial supporter of the Lott Carey Foreign Missions ministry, which serves in Christ’s name in many places around the world.
We are also affiliated with the Mattaponi District Association, the Baptist General Convention of Virginia, and the Progressive National Baptist Convention.
Our Sunday morning worship service begins at 10 a.m. We have a Saturday morning church school group that meets virtually. We also have virtual and in-person Bible study opportunities.

Welcome to a spiritually empowered haven of hope
Since 1854, we at Shiloh have tried to manifest the spirit of Christ, faithfully serving others as God’s liberating and transforming word. We’re located at 801 Sophia Street, on the river in downtown Fredericksburg, Virginia 22401.
Our historic building on the river in Downtown Fredericksburg is badly in need of exterior repairs and renovations to protect our ability to continue serving as a beacon of hope for all who are in need of Christ’s love and grace. The cost of the work is likely to be in excess of $175,000. We invite you to contribute to this project. Specially designated online gifts can be entered by CLICKING HERE.
