Rev. Joan Moody Joseph received the call of God to ministry on a Sunday morning in November 2001. The divine moment was frightening to her, as she literally heard the words, “I’m calling you”, reverberating in her mind and soul. Seconds later, the Holy Spirit revealed to her that she was hearing the voice of the Lord. From that moment, she has felt compelled to progress in ministry for the advancement of the kingdom of almighty God.
In fulfillment of her calling, she attended Tidewater Bible College in Virginia Beach, 2001–2002. She attended Regent University School of Theology in Virginia Beach, 2003–2005. She received a Master of Divinity degree the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University in 2008, and she was ordained to preach in 2019 by the Tidewater Metro Baptist Ministers Conference.
Her prior service has included: associate minister at New Hope Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, 2006–2023; secretary of the Virginia Beach Interdenominational Ministers Conference, 2014-2022; prayer counselor at the CBN 700 Club Prayer Center, 2012–2017; and provider of weekly worship services at Carrington Place Nursing Home in Chesapeake, 2012–2020.
Rev. Joseph has served as an associate minister at Shiloh Baptist Church (Old Site) in Fredericksburg, Virginia, from 2023 to the present. Her heart’s desire is to be a humble vessel of God, used for his glory, as encouraged by Jesus Christ in Matthew 5:16, “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify the father which is in heaven.”
